A Quick and Painless Death

I was thinking today that when I die I would like to go quickly and painlessly, perhaps in my sleep. Then it occurred to me that Jesus was  asking that of the Father in the Garden of Gethsemane when He asked that the cup be taken from Him if it be the Father’s will. However, it was not to be, He had to suffer and die for the sins of the world and unlike me, He knew exactly what His death would be like. He knew the suffering and the pain He would soon endure and He did it anyway. It had to be that way and I’m mighty glad He saw it through.

Me, I’m still hoping for that quick and painless death in my sleep and then awaken to see God in all His glory. But I will take what God gives me and be thankful that Jesus did suffer and die for me and everyone else.
